A New Chapter of Hope – Helping DAS Build Sunshine House
How the Holly Given Fund is helping rebuild the Domestic Abuse Shelter’s safe house in the Florida Keys. Learn more about the impact of Sunshine House and how you can support survivors of domestic violence in honor of Holly Given's legacy.

Since the Holly Given Fund’s inception, one of our core missions has been supporting domestic violence survivors in our Florida Keys community. This cause is personal—born from tragedy—and fueled by our commitment to ensuring no other family experiences the heartbreak of losing someone to intimate partner violence.

Holly Given was only 26 years old when her life was tragically taken by her abuser. In the wake of our loss, we’ve worked tirelessly to create something meaningful in her name—scholarships, support systems, and an annual tournament that not only honors Holly’s vibrant spirit but helps fund local organizations doing the hard, vital work on the ground.
That’s why we’re incredibly proud to share an update from one of our longtime beneficiaries: the Domestic Abuse Shelter of the Florida Keys (DAS).
Introducing Sunshine House
After Hurricane Irma destroyed the Middle Keys shelter, the region lost over 30,000 safe bed nights—leaving a devastating gap in emergency housing. DAS has stepped up in a bold way, purchasing an existing five-bedroom home to restore these essential services. Called Sunshine House, this ADA-accessible, pet-friendly shelter will serve as a safe haven for women, children, and families fleeing abuse.
With your support and the proceeds from the Fish for Holly Sailfish Tournament, we’ve been able to contribute to this life-changing project—and we’re not done yet.
What Your Support Helps Fund
To make Sunshine House move-in ready, DAS is raising $750,000 to complete critical renovations. The facility will include 15 beds, outreach and counseling offices, secure storage, outdoor space for children, and so much more. It’s a smart investment with lasting impact, and every dollar gets us closer to opening its doors.
This project aligns with everything Holly stood for—compassion, strength, and care for others. It represents our promise to use her legacy as a force for good.
We hope you’ll continue to stand with us in support of DAS and Sunshine House. Together, we are rebuilding more than a shelter—we are restoring hope.
